The Birthday of The

Infanta

This story is "The Birthday of the Little Spanish Princess" by Oscar Wilde. In this story, the dwarf is unaware of his deformity and receives a white rose from the little infanta, mistaking it for her as a sign of love. But then, when he sees his reflection for the first time, he realizes what he looks like and the truth of those laughs. Then, he died of a broken heart.

This is a story of love, innocence, and cruelty. I set the whole story in Sea World and portrayed the dwarf and the infanta as a clownfish and a devilfish, respectively. I chose cool colors as the main palette to emphasize the painful and cold atmosphere conveyed throughout the story.
